Welcome to the sixth blog post and video in our affiliate marketing training series. In this section, we will focus on physical products or e-commerce. We will discuss various networks such as eBay EPN Network, Amazon.com, ShareASale.com, and LinkShare.com. Each network has its own application process and commission structure, so let's dive in and explore the differences..
eBay.com EPN Network and Amazon.com only require you to apply to join the network, while ShareASale.com and LinkShare.com require both network and individual product promotion applications. Therefore, with eBay and Amazon, you can promote any product once you are accepted into the network. On the other hand, ShareASale and LinkShare offer a wider range of product categories and higher commissions, but you need to apply for each product individually.
For eBay.com and Amazon.com, the general rule of thumb is a wide range of categories, a shorter tracking cookie life (typically 15-30 days), and smaller commissions ranging from 1% to a maximum of 10%, with an average of around 3%. ShareASale.com, LinkShare.com, and other similar networks offer longer cookie life, ranging from 15 to 30 days, and higher commissions from 3% to 15%. Sometimes, certain vendors within these networks may offer flat fees. Remember, these are general guidelines, and exceptions exist.
Both approaches have their advantages and disadvantages. With ShareASale.com and LinkShare.com, you have the opportunity to promote a wide range of products with higher commissions and longer cookie life. However, you need to apply for each individual product, and there is a possibility of being declined. On the other hand, with eBay and Amazon, you only need to apply once to the network, and although commissions are smaller and cookie life is shorter, you gain the advantage of promoting any product within the network. Additionally, the brand awareness associated with eBay and Amazon can be beneficial due to their established reputation.
To increase your commissions with e-commerce products, here's a helpful trick. Visit Amazon and search for products related to your niche, such as "best dog training crates" or "best golf clubs." Look for products priced between $100 and $250 with a four-star rating or higher and a significant number of customer reviews. These products demonstrate popularity and indicate that people are purchasing them. By promoting such products across various networks, you can maximize your earnings. Remember, this strategy applies to all networks, but you need to find the product on Amazon first and then obtain your affiliate link from the respective network.
Understanding the differences between various affiliate marketing networks and their commission structures is crucial for success in promoting physical products. Whether you choose eBay, Amazon, ShareASale, LinkShare, or other networks, keep in mind the advantages and disadvantages of each approach. Don't forget to leverage strategies like searching for popular products on Amazon to boost your commissions. With these insights, you are well equipped to embark on your affiliate marketing journey in the e-commerce realm.
